
1934 Where everything started… Launch of the company by Hans Trunkenpolz as a mechanical workshop in the city centre of Mattighofen Austria.
1964 The beginning of KTM bikes… KTM is producing its first bikes, the Fleetwing comes to the production and is offered on the market in the USA. At this time the company had about 220 employees.
1978 The first KTM road bike… (Formula S) The first amateur road bike of the company, the Formula S, for the technically demanding driver is in production.

1988 The future of the bike industry… The future of the bike world is reaching the company and the first mountain bike is produced, the Ultra Cross 1988.

1989 The first one is done… In the production, the 1 000 000 bike is finished.

1992 A new start for KTM… The four divisions of, bicycle, motorcycle, cooler and toolmaking are running now as legally independent companies. KTM Bike Industries is taken over by the Urkauf family.

1994 New frame, first eBike…
New material, KTM is producing for the first-time bikes with alloy frames.
In addition, the first electric-bicycle will be produced for the Austrian automobile club ÖAMTC, the ÖAMTC 2000 26 ''
1997 A new Owner… Carol Urkauf-Chen becomes the sole owner of KTM Bike Industries.

1998 Changing image… An important step in the history of the company, KTM becomes orange.
2006 New Material, first PDS-system…
First bikes with full-carbon frames come to the market.
Furthermore, the first KTM bike with PDS-system was produced, the Prowler AT1.

2007 A new Headquarter… The new KTM Headquarter with newest technology is finished. The 2340 m² building is offering space for 50 employees in the departments Development, IT, Marketing, Management, Accounting etc. and a big showroom.

2009 Something big is coming… Introducing the first E-Mountainbike the eRace 2010. From an idea and a cautious small number of pieces became a large series in large numbers. The eRace found after initial skepticism very good and great response.
2018 Generational change in the management… Owner Carol Urkauf-Chen joins the supervisory board and hands over the control to her daughter Johanna Urkauf. Franz Leingartner retires after 45 years in the company. Johanna Urkauf and Stefan Limbrunner act as managing directors of KTM Bike Industries.

KTM today
The company has now about 450 employees and is producing about 240 000 bikes per anno, with an E-Bike percentage about 60%. Completion and opening of the new bicycle production in Mattighofen in summer 2019.
